Writing a letter to express your gratitude

William Arthur Ward’s quote on gratitude goes like
this “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not
giving it.” So we must always express gratitude to those people who have helped
us when we were in need of some kind of help.

These steps are for penning down a gratitude letter.

Always begin your letter of gratitude with a
greeting. This greeting will indicate the person whom you want to thank. One can
use greeting like Dear Sir Chris, Dear Grandma or

Dear NSG commandos

The gratitude should be expressed. Let the
person know the reason for our gratitude. State the help extended by the person
to you. One can begin the sentences in any of the following
ways:

  • I am very grateful to you for ……..
  • I really appreciate you for the…..
  • I am very thankful to you for…..

Express the meaning. Tell the person how he
made the difference(s). Also let him know what value the difference carries for
you. The following are just a few ways of expressing the value of the
change.

  • Just because of your sacrifice, today we are safe
    and happy.

  • Because of what you did, today I am able to
    ………

  • You gave new life by changing the condition.

The letter must end with the writer’s regards
like appreciating sincerely or love always.

The letter must be written truly from your heart.
